Mental Health Program

Clinical opportunities for Graduate Advanced Direct Practice Students include developing an initial recovery plan with the consumer/family, implementation of the recovery plan through treatment such as: community based skills training and development, community support services, parent education and intervention, intensive case management, medication training, and basic counseling to children, adults, and families experiencing mental health concerns. Weekly supervision is provided. *Requires undergraduate degree in psychology, social work, or helping field.

Eligibility requirements:

• Completion of an agency interview, background check, drug screening and internship/practicum paperwork for Human Resource purposes.

• Completion of eighty-four (84) hour New Intern Orientation within four (4) weeks of start date and prior to providing services to CFGC,

• Current enrollment in an accredited university in an undergraduate or graduate program.

• Open availability mainly daytime hours with some evenings/weekends available based upon event schedules.

Safety Net Program

Clinical opportunities for Graduate Advanced Direct Practice Students include co-facilitating drug and alcohol prevention groups utilizing an evidence-based curriculum with youth ages 11-18, grades 6-12. Students have the opportunity to provide brief, problem focused individual counseling with adolescents, identify problems and refer participants to appropriate resources, participate in community education events, and work in the school setting. Weekly supervision is provided. Undergraduate placement for this program is available. Undergraduate students may accompany Prevention Specialists to prevention groups and participate in community education events.

Marketing & Development Intern

This position will offer interns a substantive learning experience that will afford them the opportunity to contribute to our work while providing the knowledge, skills, and tools they would like to gain experience in. Interns will report to the Director of Development and Marketing. Some roles and responsibilities include drafting donor appeals via email and social media. Tasks can include but are not limited to: copywriting, writing press releases, creating promotional materials for brand awareness, developing content for the website and social media. Interns will also work within our CRM platform for data entry, Virtuous, to input gifts/contact info, manage donor information, and track data. There are no specific eligibility requirements except for a willingness to learn and work on a team. The internship will be remote.

Pharmacy Rotation

Pharmacy students from several schools across Texas intern and work with our pharmacists on-site. These include:

• The University of Texas at Austin

• The University of Texas at El Paso

• The University of Texas at Tyler

• Texas Tech University for Health Science Center

• University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences

• Texas Southern University

The rotations that first through fourth year students participate in are Community Pharmacy, Ambulatory Care, Psychiatry Ambulatory Care, Enhanced Community Pharmacy, and Community Management.
